Catskill Animal Sanctuary is the kind of place that makes my heart sing. While many of the creatures there have devastating stories of abuse and neglect in their past, that’s not what you feel when you step into this impressive 110 acre haven in New York’s Hudson Valley. Instead, you feel the collective warmth of dozens and dozens of animals of all sizes who absolutely seem to know that they are among friends in the most caring, loving home imaginable. It’s an unmistakable vibe that starts with CAS’s Founder and Executive Director, Kathy Stevens, a magnetic personality with a pure passion that has enabled the rescue of more than 3,500 animals since the Sanctuary first opened in 2001.
You can’t help but smile when you walk the grounds at CAS with Kathy who knows each of the animals by name – and they certainly know her. As they save the lives of so many amazing creatures and ignite social change to end their exploitation, Kathy and everyone involved with Catskill Animal Sanctuary are most definitely Living the GOOD Life.
I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my friend Peabody the rooster who is featured with me in this video. Peabody was a terrific sport during our day of filming at CAS and certainly embodied the enthusiastic spirit of all of the creatures in this magical place, human and animal alike. Please read more about Peabody and a very special horse named Noah here.
